Condolences to Dennis Johnston’s loved ones on his passing

Dennis Harry Johnston of Johnston Angus at Conquest, Sask., passed away on June 6, 2025, with family by his side….

The Noble family runs about 400 purebred Simmental cows with some Angus, said Toby Noble.

The farm is owned by his father, Randy, and uncle Neil and is run by the two families.

Black Gold has won the premier banners multiple times in the past.

“It’s definitely a cool accomplishment to get acknowledged for your entire show string and not just an individual,” said Noble after the show.

One cow family contributed significantly to Black Gold’s success.

Offspring from their Hayleigh cow won reserve champion percentage female and reserve champion purebred female. Another Hayleigh son was also a winner at the show.

Maplelm Cattle Co. from Ituna, Sask., also had a good day at the show, winning grand champion percentage female and grand champion percentage bull.

Buck has judged multiple shows in Canada this year, including the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair’s Hereford and Angus shows in Toronto.

“I think the Canadian cattle have an advantage because they come out of ranch country. There isn’t as many hobby farms as there are in the United States, but I think the production that’s in the Canadian cattle is really awesome.”
