Longtime central Alberta cattleman Julian Hardman passed away on December 23 after a brief illness. Born September 8, 1929, Hardman began his career as a livestock buyer in 1947 and held an Alberta livestock buyers license through 2021.
Throughout his career he travelled the province buying cattle from farmers, feedlots and producers. In the mid-1950s he was a partner in the Grand Prairie Auction Market, and through the 1960s and into the ’70s, he operated a feedlot just north of Edmonton.
He will be remembered by many whose acquaintances he made on his rounds, buying stock on their farms, a business model that has become virtually obsolete.
