
The Canadian Hereford Association has chosen Michael Latimer as their new executive director, announced association president Nels Nixdorf in late August. Latimer, 47, had been the executive director of the Canadian Beef Breeds Council (CBBC).
“We are confident that under Michael’s direction, the Hereford breed’s unique value to the beef business will remain strong,” Nixdorf said. Nixdorf ranches in Rocky View County, Alta.

Cattle producers are likely familiar with Latimer. He served as the Canadian Angus Association executive director from September 2009 to August 2013 prior to joining the CBBC. He currently serves as Canadian Western Agribition vice-president. Latimer has been involved in its Beef Supreme, International and Commercial Cattle committees.
Latimer will be returning to his family’s Hereford heritage. The Latimers ranch as Remitall Farms with Hereford and Angus breeds in Olds, Alta. Latimer and his family reside in Olds.
“I am excited to return to my Hereford roots and build on the foundation laid by the organization’s leadership,” Latimer stated. He began his new role on September 1.
