Eighty Years on the Plains
by Marie Rose Smith

Chapter 9 opens with the founding of Macleod and Pincher Creek and the difficulties that ensued due to the “new system” of bank credit to encourage agricultural expansion. Marie talks at great length of Pincher Creek and how it played host to the first polo games in Canada. Her story serves as an excellent recount of how the town of Pincher Creek came to be.
