Horse With Coat of Gold

‘The horse with the coat of gold has a history that is just as rich. Admittedly it is not yet a breed but it is a strain, the roots of which can be traced for centuries. The horse we call a Palomino is a descendant of stock which carried North African fighting men to victory over a thousand years ago, Spanish royalty to fame five hundred years ago and Napoleon to his coronation in more recent times. Several times the royal riding horses of antiquity have been threatened by extinction, but the gay color and the hardy horseflesh that went with it, genetically, refused to be extinguished.’
