Water Development and the Cattle Industry
By L. B. Thomson, Director, P.F.R.A.
‘Twenty-seven years ago, the Western Stock Growers’ Association, along with the Saskatchewan Stock Growers’ Association, constituted a delegation in requesting the Government of Canada to undertake measures to improve the grasslands of Western Canada. At the same time it was requested that methods be followed to reclaim the abandoned farm lands that were a liability at that time. The reasons behind these requests were quite sound, because stockmen knew from experience that “grass” was the heart and soul of production.’
