Though the format will look different, beef producers can expect to find just as much value in this year’s edition of Ag in Motion.
The first-ever digital version of one of Western Canada’s favourite farm shows will feature a lineup of seminars, panel discussions and video demonstrations tailored for beef producers to enjoy at home.
2020 marks the sixth year for Ag in Motion, which is usually held at Langham, Sask. and draws huge crowds of farmers and ranchers eager to learn, connect and do business. Due to social distancing protocols and provincial health regulations, the live farm show has taken on a new life as a virtual event, taking place July 21-25. The show will be free to attend and on demand, featuring a wide variety of informative sessions and a digital trade show to engage with exhibitors.

In addition to virtual crop plot tours, equipment demonstrations and new products debuts, Ag in Motion’s Livestock Central will also make the leap to digital, with programming to meet the needs of beef, dairy, bison and sheep producers. A number of breeds will be on display in the Beef Breeds Showcase for virtual walk-throughs, and each day features a series of livestock-specific seminars.
The first Beef Day, to be held on Wednesday, July 22, will include sessions on using EPDs and genomics in your herd, making production decisions with genetic information and field backgrounding your calves. In the evening, check out the Beef Value Chain Sustainability panel, with representatives from the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef, Verified Beef Production Plus and McDonalds Canada.
Thursday, July 23 will be the second Beef Day, with topics on the agenda such as funding for water infrastructure projects, taking advantage of the Canadian Agriculture Partnership program and best management practices for native and tame forage. Thursday evening will feature the Beef Industry Resiliency Panel, co-hosted by the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association and Canadian Cattlemen magazine.
