According to Alan Vaage, ruminant nutritionist for Jaylor, the biggest problem with feed supply in beef cattle production is wastage as it can be selectively eaten. By Vaage’s estimate, a TMR mixer can save up to 20-30 per cent in forage use, or even higher for some operations. But it’s not just about the cost savings.
