New Canadian feed regulations released

Long-awaited feed regulation update offers more flexibility, risk-based approach, focus on food safety

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has released their long-promised update to national feed regulations. Formally referred to as the “Feeds Regulations, 2024,” the final version of the framework was registered June 17 and published for public view July 3 in part 2 of the Canada Gazette.

Bird flu continues to spread in U.S. dairy farms

The number of dairy farms in the United States that have reported bird flu among their livestock increased to 94 in a dozen states, according to reports. In a May 27 letter to finance minister Chrystia Freeland, agriculture minister Lawrence MacAulay and national revenue minister Marie-Claude Bibeau, 10 signatories said they are concerned about the capital gains inclusion rate, the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) and the Canadian Entrepreneurs’ Incentive (CEI), which were all announced in April.
