Calgary case-ready plant avoids strike, Guelph plant strike ends after 41 days

In the second week of July, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 401, which represents workers at Cargill’s case-ready plant in Calgary, said they had come to an agreement with the company. Union members voted on a final offer July 8-9, with 74 per cent in favour of the proposed agreement.

New Canadian feed regulations released

Long-awaited feed regulation update offers more flexibility, risk-based approach, focus on food safety

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has released their long-promised update to national feed regulations. Formally referred to as the “Feeds Regulations, 2024,” the final version of the framework was registered June 17 and published for public view July 3 in part 2 of the Canada Gazette.
