A Group 2 and 4 combination broadleaf herbicide has picked up Canadian registration for use in durum wheat crops.
Triton K, a DuPont Canada product, combines the company’s Group 2 tribenuron methyl product Express SG EUP with two Group 4 products, 2,4-D ester 700 (as marketed by Nufarm Canada) and BASF Canada’s Group 4 dicamba product Banvel II.
The product “controls some of the toughest broadleaf weeds including Group 2-resistant kochia, narrow-leaved hawk’s beard, cow cockle, wild buckwheat, flixweed and Russian thistle,” the company said in a release.
“Triton K is the only herbicide that controls all of the top 10 weeds targeted by growers in the brown soil zone. Now producers can use it in durum wheat too,” Jon Gough, DuPont cereals product manager, said in the company’s release.
Triton K’s separate modes of action also make it “a great resistance management tool,” the company said. The product is already registered for use in spring wheat and barley crops.
