MarketsFarm — Warmer-than-normal temperatures are in the long-range forecast across all of Canada for the next three months, according to the latest outlook from Environment Canada.
The latest seasonal forecast from the government agency, released Thursday, calls for a 40 to 70 per cent chance of above-normal temperatures from January through March for the western provinces.
In Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes, the probability of above-normal temperatures ranges from 70 per cent to as high as 100 per cent.
As far as precipitation is concerned, most of the country is forecast to see normal conditions over the next three months. However, British Columbia and the northern reaches of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta may see above-normal precipitation.
A portion of Quebec and much of Labrador also have a higher probability of seeing more precipitation than normal.
Meanwhile, Newfoundland is forecast to be drier than normal this winter.
