– The Dow Jones Industrial Average opened at a record high on Friday, as improving economic data and optimistic corporate earnings report lent support to equities.

– Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei gave a rare sermon in Tehran on Friday, defending the country’s military and calling U.S. President Donald Trump a ‘clown’. While he reportedly struck a defiant tone, Khamenei did say Iran was willing to negotiate – just not with the U.S.

– St. John’s, Newfoundland has called a state of emergency, with a severe winter blizzard bringing heavy snow and winds to the province.
