Westward Ho in 1880 – Pt. 2 (concluding installment)
By G. W. Morden
‘Some distance from Fort Benton a Mr. Steed, who had been engaged in a fishery business in Sarni, Ontario joined us and was a welcome addition to our party. The more company there was, the less monotony on this long three hundred mile stretch. He had a splendid team of big dapple grey Percheron mares, something new in the country. He was headed for Fort Macleod, which was three hundred miles north of Fort Benton.’
‘Our History’ is curated by former Canadian Cattlemen editor, Gren Winslow.
