Livestock Disease Control in Canada
By Dr. T. Childs, Veterinary Director-General, Ottawa
Presented to the 54th Convention of the Western Stock Growers’ Convention, February 9th and 10th, 1950
‘At the present time, all available resources of the Department, through the Health of Animal Division, are being employed in the control and eradication of bovine tuberculosis throughout Canada; bovine brucellosis is also receiving serious attention, and it is expected we shall have a comprehensive programme of control and co-operation with the various Provinces, in operation in the near future. In the interests of public health, and in order that your surplus livestock may be disposed of to the best advantage in export trade, it is imperative that bovine tuberculosis be controlled and eradicated just as rapidly as our resources will permit.’
