They lived most of their adult life on the Green Lake ranch in the Cariboo, and they left a distinct mark on the the history of that country. Dour and distant, they thought alike even in their family disputes and they had all the virtues and failings of their Scot forbears. They were loyal to their friends, implacably hostile to those who merited scorn, and they dearly loved the bawbees.’
