Quality yearling packages were $2-$4 higher in Alberta but fleshier replacements were discounted. The additional requirements placed on Canada’s processing sector because of BSE created a significant economic disadvantage to others. Now that Canada has achieved negligible risk status, CCA will focus on aligning packing house requirements with international recommendations and removing the remaining BSE era market access restrictions.
